Fujifilm FinePix XP150 Compact Digital Camera

Fujifilm FinePix XP150 Digital Camera Price in the Philippines, Features, and Other Info: The FinePix XP150 from Fujifilm is the newest flagship model of the company’s XP series of ruggedized digital compact cameras. In terms of specs and price points, it sits directly above its brothers, the XP100 and XP30. It is waterproof to up to 10 meters, shockproof to up to 2 meters, and freeze proof to up to -10˚C. It is also sealed against both dust and dirt. It has very useful GPS feature and is very much at home whether underwater or on snow.

Physically, the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 retains the same basic shape of the XP30, except for some minor tweaks. On the front, there is now a small metallic plate that extends around to the battery and memory card latch, and where the user can rest his or her fingers. In addition, the camera also contains a rubberized finger grip. Together, the quite elevated profile, and rubber grip gives the camera a slightly more secured hold.

The layout of the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 is also very handy and quite ergonomic. Buttons are located within easy reach and are all quite large and well spaced. These button characteristics will come in very handy in cases such as during snow wherein one has to use oversized mittens while manipulating the camera. However, unlike one Olympus camera, there is no clever Tap Control function, which would have made operation a breeze when wearing large mittens.

Another difference with the XP30 layout is that the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 now has a dedicated GPS button on its top plate. This allows the camera to geotag the images in the picture at a certain source. In addition, the camera has a built-in digital compass that augments the GPS function. The camera is now able to record the direction with which the user is facing when taking pictures. It only takes as little as 30 seconds or as long as three or four minutes to synchronize with a satellite, and even sometimes recognizes signal indoors.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP150 features a 2.7-inch, 230,000 dot LCD screen. The screen lacks resolution and gives the camera a rather on the budget aspect, not at all worthy of the actual price tag of the unit. Also, for a ruggedized camera, the screen easily scratches.

In terms of functionality, the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 is more of in the point-and-shoot category. However, there are quite a variety of scene modes available for selection and even a couple of low-light and high dynamic range options. In addition, there’s the much standard user control modes like the Program mode that allows the user to choose his or her own ISO or white balance settings. There is also an easy to access one touch panoramic mode, although unfortunately enough, the camera wasn’t imbued with any filtering capability.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP150 is able to shoot using three high-speed options, which include 640 x 480 pictures at 80 frames per second, or 320 x 240 at either 160 frames per second or 240 frames per second. Aside from taking pictures, the camera is also able to take videos at full HD at 30 frames per second, with the sound captured in mono. Other video options include a 720/30p HD recording as well as the more standard definition 640 x 480.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP150 has a 1/2.3-inch 14.4 MP CMOS sensor, and is imbued with a 5x optical zoom. The zoom offers a total of 35 mm focal rang equivalent of 28-140 mm. Performance-wise, the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 takes around four seconds to fully start-up, which isn’t really fast but respectable. Autofocus speed is functional while its tracking function is decent but just as long as the subject isn’t moving too fast or erratically.

On low-light settings, the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 begins to lose its image integrity, even in indoor settings or under bright but artificial light. Processing times aren’t remarkable just as long as the user is shooting using the camera’s single-shot drive mode. However, it tends to lag when the high-speed continuous drive mode is used. Images begin to crumble too and lack detail at this mode.

Overall, the Fujifilm FinePix XP150 doesn’t really stand out in terms of performance or image quality.
