HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer

Like Epson and Canon, HP also has gotten a lot of thick nerves to compete to the world’s leading printers and copying needs. We’ve seen releases of HP printers through years, and with my personal experience with the few models, I honestly did not like the build quality of it as if HP is also consistent with hardware issues. I strongly believe HP has gotten over these issues, which I know it’s not only me who experienced them. Today we are to look on the Officejet Pro 8500’s new brother: the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer.

The new Officejet Pro 8600 shares a lot of the same features as its predecessor especially on the aesthetic side, but we will not dwell much on spotting the differences. Instead, since the release of the Officejet Pro 8600 is truly original and unique as company claim, we will take the Officejet Pro 8600 piece by piece. For the design, the build is now very sturdy from the top down, with seamless and shake-free parts making the components truly reliable apart from each other.

I love the way HP made it look so well, making the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One printer truly fitting to both business and home use without the usual clutter. O, the AIO printer is still gigantic at its size of 19.4 x 12.4 x 16.3 inches. For the said size, you don’t want this printer to be brought along after a few hours of use. Since it weighed like 20 pounds, you might just want it to sit calmly next to a table; anyway, the all-wireless printing feature will keep you off from always walking away from your desk.

There are four distinct and major parts of the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One printer I myself have categorized: the ADF at the top, the output tray, the paper tray that shields below the output tray, and the LCD display. Aside from some obvious features that this AIO printer has like fax, we are happy that this Officejet Pro 8600 from HP is capable of auto-duplexing. It does the job by spitting the first page, then after a few seconds, it swallows the same paper and flip it from the inside for printing on the other page. It does this job fairly quickly aside from its printing speed (20ppm for mono and 16ppm for colored—all borderless printing making it best for photos without the white margin or bleed), but the downside of it is that the person who stands and wait for the outcome should be notified of the job which takes the said two steps.

The ADF serves well enough for making the scanning job fairly convenient. What this does is that users just insert a pile of documents to be scanned right on the feed, and the ADF takes care of the individual scanning. The scanbed measured at 8.5×14” which is tantamount to a legal-sized paper. It is of a good size already, and the added feature of making the scanned document directly sent via email is a handsome selling point. O, to mention the best feature, the Officejet Pro 8600 is really capable of cloud printing, or simply wireless printing, which we are about to talk about now.

The e-technology in this Officejet Pro 8600 from HP takes advantage of two different signals: the Wi-Fi signal, and the AirPrint technology of Apple. Compared to the usual trend, it is this printer that you have to connect to a network via its built-in technology. With this said, you can print directly to this printer wherever you are using a unique e-mail address. PC users in the same house can also print via Wi-Fi, not to mention yet the additional apps that you can access and ask for more in the Internet (which now you have to use a PC to create an account on and look for the one that gets your attention). On the other hand, the AirPrint of Apple allows users to print without the need of any wires or even any apps.

Priced before at $300, the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One printer is now made more affordable at $196. It is fairly affordable, though we’d ask for an additional paper tray and a more responsive LCD display. Nevertheless, the printing quality is outstanding even for everyday photos with its eco-friendly features like 50% more ink saving, paper saving, and energy saving.
